*The minutes of the Supreme Court indicate that Baldwin took his seat on the Court on January 18, 1830, and presented an order of unspecified date, signed by President Andrew Jackson, allotting him to the Third Circuit. Jackson's order must have been issued between Baldwin's appointment date of January 6, 1830, and the date Baldwin presented the order, January 18, 1830, so the former date is used here. |
