Fundamentals of DNA

This section explains the fundamentals of DNA, how DNA is organized into genes and chromosomes, and what types of variation may shape the DNA sequence. It also explores some ways that DNA may be relevant to the courts. Historically, DNA has most commonly been used for identification. While identification will continue to be a critical and common use for DNA in the courts, the ease of collecting genetic information has expanded the use of DNA and genetics into new areas of law.
