Nominated by Jimmy Carter on January 10, 1980, to a new seat authorized by 92 Stat. 1629. Confirmed by the Senate on May 29, 1980, and received commission on May 30, 1980. Assumed senior status on December 31, 1991. Service terminated on October 12, 2003, due to death.
