Civics Education and Outreach

Interactive map

Overview

Federal judges and judiciary employees regularly engage in public outreach and civics education efforts, in both federal courthouses and the community. In addition, some federal courts and judiciary agencies, including the Federal Judicial Center and the Administrative Office of the U.S. Courts, have created resources to educate the public about the role, structure, function, or operation of the federal courts.

The purpose of this curated webpage is to facilitate access to civics educational content about the federal judiciary and to assist courts in developing or expanding their civics programming and resources. It highlights civics education programming provided by federal courts, educational resources on federal court or judiciary agency websites, and additional resources of potential interest to a wide audience--judges, court staff, teachers, students, journalists, researchers, and the general public.

The webpage includes:

  • an interactive visualization, or map, of highlighted civics education program information pages and educational resources available on federal court websites.
  • comprehensive lists of additional resources related to the judiciary.
