Nominated by Lyndon B. Johnson on August 24, 1965, to a seat vacated by William Boyd Sloan. Confirmed by the Senate on September 10, 1965, and received commission on September 10, 1965. Served as chief judge, 1968-1974. Service terminated on June 1, 1974, due to resignation.
