U.S. District Court for the District of South Dakota: Legislative History

Congress organized South Dakota as one judicial district, authorized one judgeship for the U.S. district court, and assigned the district to the Eighth Circuit. The act became effective upon the admission of the State of South Dakota on November 2, 1889.
