1. Joseph Casey was appointed to a new seat as chief justice of the court pursuant to the act of March 3, 1863, 12 Stat. 765. 2. The act of April 2, 1982, 96 Stat. 25, transferred all seven of the court's active judgeships to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit. 3. John Jones was appointed to a new seat as chief judge of the court pursuant to the act of June 25, 1948, 62 Stat. 898. 4. Stanton Peelle was confirmed and commissioned as chief justice of the court in December 1905, but did not terminate his service as judge in order to begin his service as chief justice until January 1906.
