| 1. The act of October 20, 1978, 92 Stat. 1629, authorized a temporary judgeship for the court and provided that the first vacancy in the district occurring five years or more after the date of the statute not be filled. In accordance with the statute, no successor to Bernard Moynahan was appointed. 2. On November 30, 1987, the president certified G. Wix Unthank involuntarily as disabled in accordance with the act of September 2, 1957, 71 Stat. 586, which entitled the president to appoint an additional judge for the court and provided that no successor to the judge certified as disabled be appointed. 3. The act of September 2, 1957, 71 Stat. 586, was made applicable to the Eastern District of Kentucky on November 30, 1987, when the president certified Judge Unthank as disabled. Karl Forester was appointed to the additional judgeship authorized by the statute. |
