Nominated by Franklin D. Roosevelt on January 31, 1941, to a seat vacated by Scott Wilson. Confirmed by the Senate on February 18, 1941, and received commission on February 25, 1941. Served as chief judge, 1959-1964. Assumed senior status on December 31, 1964. Service terminated on November 17, 1970, due to death.
