Nominated by Harry S Truman on July 3, 1952, to a seat vacated by Howard C. Speakman. Confirmed by the Senate on July 5, 1952, and received commission on July 7, 1952. Served as chief judge, 1961-1972. Assumed senior status on July 9, 1976. Service terminated on May 2, 1991, due to death.
