Received a recess appointment from Dwight D. Eisenhower on September 29, 1958, to a seat vacated by Winfred G. Knoch; nominated to the same position by Dwight D. Eisenhower on January 17, 1959. Confirmed by the Senate on April 29, 1959, and received commission on April 30, 1959. Served as chief judge, 1970-1975. Assumed senior status on April 16, 1975. Service terminated on October 21, 1986, due to death.
