Nominated by Dwight D. Eisenhower on May 3, 1954, to a seat vacated by Abraham B. Conger. Confirmed by the Senate on May 18, 1954, and received commission on May 20, 1954. Served as chief judge, 1961-1972. Assumed senior status on March 11, 1972. Service terminated on January 25, 2005, due to death.
