U.S. House of Representatives Committee on the Judiciary

June 3, 1813

The U.S. House of Representatives established the Committee on the Judiciary in 1813 as a standing committee. Since then, the Committee has reported to the full House on most legislation concerning the federal judiciary and has been responsible for investigating allegations of misconduct against federal judges and advising the House as to whether impeachment is warranted.
