Nominated by Franklin D. Roosevelt on June 8, 1937, to a new seat authorized by 50 Stat. 64. Confirmed by the Senate on June 15, 1937, and received commission on June 18, 1937. Served as chief judge, 1957-1959. Assumed senior status on January 25, 1961. Service terminated on January 15, 1965, due to death.
