Nominated by Herbert Hoover on January 8, 1932, to a seat vacated by Arthur Carter Denison. Confirmed by the Senate on January 26, 1932, and received commission on January 29, 1932. Served as chief judge, 1952-1958. Assumed senior status on September 15, 1959. Service terminated on February 2, 1964, due to death.
