Nominated by Franklin Pierce on March 3, 1855, to a new seat authorized by 10 Stat. 612. Confirmed by the Senate on March 3, 1855, and received commission on March 3, 1855. Served as presiding judge, 1855-1858. Service terminated on April 29, 1858, due to death.
