Nominated by Dwight D. Eisenhower on February 26, 1959, to a seat vacated by Philip J. Finnegan. Confirmed by the Senate on April 29, 1959, and received commission on April 30, 1959. Served as chief judge, 1968-1970. Assumed senior status on February 28, 1970. Service terminated on March 10, 1986, due to death.
