1. Although this judgeship had served both the Eastern and Middle Districts of Tennessee, George Taylor, the successor to Xenophon Hicks, was appointed exclusively to the Eastern District of Tennessee. 2. The act of February 10, 1954, 68 Stat. 8, authorized a temporary judgeship for the court and provided that the next vacancy in the district not be filled. In accordance with the statute, no successor to Elmer Davies was appointed. 3. The act of November 27, 1940, 54 Stat. 1216, assigned this judgeship exclusively to the Eastern District of Tennessee.
