1. The act of February 17, 1925, 43 Stat. 949, authorized an additional judgeship for the court and provided that a vacancy in the district caused by the death, retirement, or resignation of the present district judge not be filled. In accordance with the statute, no successor to Clarence Sessions was appointed. 2. The act of December 1, 1990, 104 Stat. 5089, as amended by the act of November 28, 1995, 109 Stat. 635, authorized a temporary judgeship for the court and provided that the first vacancy in the district occurring after December 1, 1995, not be filled. In accordance with the statute, no successor to Benjamin Gibson was appointed.
