1. The act of February 23, 1847, 9 Stat. 131, transferred this judgeship from the District of Florida. 2. The act of May 24, 1940, 54 Stat. 219, created a temporary judgeship serving both the Northern and Southern Districts of Florida and provided that the next vacancy in either district not be filled. In accordance with the statute, no successor to Augustus Long was appointed. 3. The act of March 18, 1966, 80 Stat. 75, assigned this judgeship exclusively to the Middle District of Florida.

1. The act of July 30, 1962, 76 Stat. 247, transferred these judgeships to the Middle District of Florida. 2. The act of September 14, 1922, 42 Stat. 837, created a temporary judgeship for the court and provided that the first vacancy occurring two years or more after the date of the statute in the office of the judge appointed to fill the temporary judgeship not be filled. In accordance with the statute, no successor to Lake Jones was appointed. 3. The act of May 24, 1940, 54 Stat. 219, created a temporary judgeship serving the Northern and Southern Districts of Florida. The statute provided further that the first vacancy in either district not be filled, and that upon the occurrence of that vacancy, the temporary judgeship be assigned permanently and exclusively to the district in question. In accordance with the statute, this judgeship was in 1947 assigned exclusively to the Northern District of Florida. 4. The act of March 18, 1966, 80 Stat. 75, assigned this judgeship exclusively to the Middle District of Florida. 5. The act of November 2, 2002, 116 Stat. 1758, authorized a temporary judgeship for the court, extended most recently by the act of March 23, 2024, 138 Stat. 542, which provided that the first vacancy in the district after July 31, 2025, not be filled.
