Congress established the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit. The court assumed the jurisdiction of the U.S. Court of Customs and Patent Appeals as well as the appellate jurisdiction of the U.S. Court of Claims. The Federal Circuit was also vested with jurisdiction to hear appeals from several federal administrative boards and patent cases from the U.S. district courts.
